The new look and feel Southern User Group took place on Wednesday 5th June, with a change of location and new presentation format. The Heritage Motor Centre, Warwickshire, became the latest place for representatives from over 40 dealerships to attend, network and learn about industry best practice.
After an initial networking session, Dayinsure opened proceedings when Barry Brown introduced the Dayinsure Connect, a short-term courtesy car insurance solution that integrates with the Autoline Dealer Management System. Phil Stubbs, Regional Sales Manager then took the floor to advise the best ways that dealers can control their customer’s journey at every stage of the sales and aftersales cycle.
Next, it was the turn of Trevor Jones, founder of ASE, who is a fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry and Chairman of the Automotive Fellowship International. His entertaining presentation provided insight into the changing role of the finance manager in dealerships and how they are vital in helping the dealer survive & prosper through this particularly difficult period. He asked the dealers to take part in a self-valuation, where they marked themselves out of 5 for sales and aftersales operation in their dealerships to see where they stand amongst the industry’s best and worst performers.
After a networking lunch, Richard Campbell, CDK Global Telephony Specialist discussed the differences between Good and Excellent service and how this can be achieved through telephony excellence. Finally, closing the day was Dean Packer, International Product Manager, who provided a role-play tour of the Autoline Drive Showroom application, from both a user and manager perspective.
“The day was a great success” commented the User Group Chariman Andrew Brading, Marshalls Motor Group. “The new venue was well received and having a guest speaker really helped to open our eyes to changes happening in the industry and actions we can take to help us succeed more. We are keen to make sure this is our users’ event and always welcome any feedback.” “We are now already looking to the next event in 6 months’ time, where we aim to have more guest speakers and ensure the content benefits dealers in improving their business operations.”
